Bollywood’s New Star Expresses Bold Opinion on Film Releases
Upcoming Bollywood sensation Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, has a refreshing perspective on film distribution. While most filmmakers focus on box office numbers and streaming deals, Junaid has stated that, if possible, he would have released ‘Loveyapa’ for free on YouTube.
What is ‘Loveyapa’ About?
The film is a Hindi adaptation of the Tamil blockbuster ‘Love Today’, a movie that captured hearts with its modern take on relationships. Directed by Advait Chandan, ‘Loveyapa’ also marks the theatrical debut of Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late Bollywood icon Sridevi.
Junaid Khan’s Take on Film Accessibility
During an interview at a promotional event, Junaid opened up about his view on accessibility in cinema.
“I don’t feel a major difference between an OTT or theatrical release. Ideally, I would love to put the film on YouTube for free so that everyone can watch it,” he said.
However, he acknowledged the realities of the industry.
“Of course, this isn’t always practical. The people in charge know how to market films best, and I trust them with the decision,” he explained.
‘Loveyapa’ Hits Theaters on February 7
While Junaid’s wish to release the film for free remains a dream, fans can still catch him on the big screen when ‘Loveyapa’ releases in cinemas on February 7, 2025. The film’s romantic yet relatable storyline is expected to resonate with today’s generation, making it one of the most awaited Bollywood rom-coms of the year.
