Varun Dhawan recently opened up about a frightening episode from his childhood, sharing that his family was forced to leave their home in the 1990s after receiving threats from the underworld.
Speaking to Indian media, Dhawan revealed that his father, David Dhawan, and the family received multiple threatening calls, prompting them to immediately relocate for safety. He explained that such threats were not uncommon in the film industry during that era, with many celebrities encountering similar risks.
Varun recalled that household staff sometimes reacted unpredictably, even interacting with the callers and unintentionally disclosing the family’s address. In one instance, a staff member reportedly challenged a caller to come to the house, escalating the danger. The situation became critical when another actor informed David Dhawan that the caller might arrive armed, forcing the family to vacate their residence without delay.
Reflecting on the incident, Varun Dhawan noted that while the story may sound almost humorous in hindsight, it was a deeply stressful and terrifying experience at the time, leaving a lasting impression on his family.
