Pakistani icon Mahira Khan received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the House of Commons, United Kingdom, for her influential role in women’s empowerment and her impactful work as a cultural ambassador. Hosted by MP Afzal Khan, the award ceremony saw a distinguished presence of officials, including Dr. Sarah Naeem, Mrs. High Commissioner, Atta Haq, Chairman of the Labour Asians Society, Shafiq Shahzad, Trade and Investment Minister, and Manish Tiwari, Co-chair of the Labour Asians Society.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Mahira Khan emphasized her commitment to empowering women within the film industry and beyond. For her, the award symbolized a significant step toward equality, as she explained, “It’s about creating opportunities so others don’t face the same struggles I did.” Known for her efforts to uplift women, Mahira has long been a vocal advocate for women’s rights and equal representation in entertainment.

Mahira Khan’s Inspirational Journey: Education, Independence, and Family Support

Born into a Pashtun family in Karachi, Mahira shared her journey from attending Foundation Public School to moving to the United States for higher education. She enrolled at Santa Monica College and later joined the University of Southern California. As the first woman in her family to study abroad independently, Mahira spoke about the growth and resilience she developed during those years. She credited her parents, who emphasized equal education and instilled confidence in their children.

Reflecting on her career, Mahira acknowledged the influence of her mentors, directors, and the unwavering support from her loved ones. “I remember those who inspired me—my teachers, my directors, my fans, and my family who celebrated my successes and lifted me up during tough times.” She expressed gratitude to her parents, brother, son, colleagues, and childhood friends, who stood by her throughout her journey. This award, she said, belonged to everyone who supported her along the way.
