Humayun Saeed Opens Up on ‘Love Guru’ Struggles, Announces Discount Initiative for Moviegoers

Prominent Pakistani actor-producer Humayun Saeed has opened up about the intense pressure and behind-the-scenes challenges that went into the making of his new feature film, Love Guru. Speaking at the Karachi Press Club, Saeed detailed both personal and industry-wide difficulties that accompany major film releases in Pakistan.

“Every time you make a film here, it feels like walking a tightrope,” he remarked. “You invest a lot of money, time, and effort. But with a limited number of screens and rising ticket prices, it’s tough to ensure widespread viewership.”

According to Saeed, these limitations not only impact the financial outcomes but also alienate large sections of the population who cannot afford a trip to the cinema. His goal with Love Guru was not only to entertain but also to provoke dialogue about the economic accessibility of local cinema.

He shared that the film’s release brought him considerable anxiety. “I stayed at home for days after the release,” he said, adding that only after receiving reports of a strong box office opening did he feel confident enough to address the public.

Saeed also revealed a unique initiative that could benefit thousands of fans. If Love Guru continues to perform successfully, he plans to roll out a half-price ticket scheme for low-income viewers, aiming to broaden cinema access for marginalized communities.

“This is my way of saying thank you,” he explained. “Everyone deserves to experience the magic of cinema, not just those who can afford premium prices.”

The announcement has sparked positive reactions within the film fraternity and among audiences, who view it as a rare, generous move by a leading industry figure. The initiative, if implemented, could serve as a model for other producers seeking to build inclusive and audience-focused cinema culture in Pakistan.
