Jenna Ortega Shares the Dark Side of Fame: “It’s Horrific”

Jenna Ortega, breakout star of Netflix’s Wednesday, is pulling back the curtain on the pressures of celebrity culture. In a recent interview tied to her promotion of Wednesday Season 2, Ortega spoke candidly about the emotional toll of being in the spotlight.

Known for her layered performances and emotional depth, Ortega revealed a jarring side of fame that is rarely discussed openly. “It’s almost to a point where it feels like your name doesn’t belong to you,” she shared, describing a growing disconnect between her public persona and her personal identity.

The 21-year-old actress, who has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces, says that being constantly scrutinized has led to a profound feeling of being “misunderstood.” She also expressed discomfort with the public’s perceived entitlement to every detail of her life. “People feel entitled to those bits and pieces of your life,” she said. “If they were under the same microscope, they wouldn’t be comfortable either.”

Ortega spoke of alarming incidents where grown men shouted offensive remarks at her in public. “Sometimes people shout vile things. Like, you don’t stop for somebody and they’re calling you names in front of your own mother. It’s horrific.”

Despite these personal challenges, Ortega remains committed to her craft. Part 1 of Wednesday Season 2 will premiere on August 6, followed by Part 2 on September 3, with Netflix already confirming a third season.
