Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has addressed widespread speculation about the name of his lifestyle brand, ARKS, confirming that it is not related to his wife, Alia Bhatt, or their daughter, Raha. The clarification comes after fans on social media attempted to decode the meaning behind the brand’s name.
In a video shared on ARKS’ official Instagram and YouTube channels, Ranbir gave a behind-the-scenes look at the brand’s factory and explained the naming process. The manufacturing unit, he revealed, previously belonged to his brother-in-law Bharat Sahni.
Ranbir stated that ARKS went through several iterations before the final name was chosen. “You know, it just had different meanings to it,” he said. He added, “We started with because we just wanted to come out with the sneakers, so it was a Ranbir Kapoor shoe. Then there were many different meanings like a Ranbir Kapoor studio… I guess I came to a point where I said that it doesn’t really need a meaning, but I think it just fit. When we heard the name ARKS, when we saw this logo, everything just came together.”

The 42-year-old actor also shared his evolving perspective on lifestyle and material possessions, noting that his desire for excess has lessened over time. “You always need a t-shirt or a denim jacket because you can wear it at any time. That’s where I come in with ARKS,” Ranbir said, highlighting the practical and versatile approach of the brand.
ARKS currently focuses on men’s wardrobe essentials, including cotton jersey t-shirts, French terry sweatshirts, knitted hoodies, double pique polo shirts, and linen shirts, all reflecting a functional and understated aesthetic. However, Ranbir has plans to expand the brand into other lifestyle areas, including athleisure, underwear, and furniture, aiming to offer a complete lifestyle experience.

The brand’s cinematic launch video featured Ranbir lying under the stars and drawing a symbol in the air, setting a serene and aspirational tone. The launch received support from his family, with Alia Bhatt reacting with fire emojis and Neetu Kapoor wishing him “Good luck.”

On the professional front, Ranbir will next appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. He was last seen in the hit Animal with Triptii Dimri and Rashmika Mandanna, with a sequel, Animal Park, already in the works.
