Pakistani actress Kinza Hashmi has voiced serious concerns about the growing sense of insecurity faced by women in Pakistan, stating that rising incidents of crime have made fear a daily reality rather than an exception. Kinza stated, “We should be scared. Every day, you open Instagram and come across seven or eight videos about crimes that have happened, mostly involving women. When you’re living in a country where such incidents happen so frequently, you have every reason to be cautious.”
She further added that common advice such as “don’t be afraid” does not always reflect real-life conditions. Instead, she encouraged women to remain alert, observe their environment, and trust their instincts when something feels wrong.
In her conversation, Kinza also highlighted how online discussions around crime often disturb her, particularly the nature of comments under such posts. She noted that the mindset reflected in some responses can be even more alarming than the incidents themselves.
“The most shocking part is often the comments. You realise the kind of mentality some people have. These are people living among us, yet we don’t recognise them,” she said, emphasizing the importance of vigilance.
The actress also stressed the value of intuition, urging women not to ignore even minor feelings of discomfort in unfamiliar or uncertain situations. She described intuition as a strong protective tool that should be taken seriously.
Kinza further expressed concern about the broader social environment, noting that women in Pakistan often do not feel fully safe in public spaces. She also pointed out the tendency in some cases to blame victims rather than offer support, calling it a harmful mindset that needs to change.
