Canada Lifestyle Fashion Show & Exhibition 2026 brings together fashion, culture, creativity and inclusion in a house-full Calgary gala
CALGARY — A runway in Calgary became a celebration of much more than fashion on August 28.
The Canada Lifestyle Fashion Show & Exhibition 2026 brought the colors, craftsmanship and cultural richness of Pakistan and South Asia to Dera Banquet Hall, welcoming a house-full audience for an evening that connected designers, creatives, entrepreneurs, community leaders and audiences through fashion.
The gala presented an elegant mix of couture, contemporary design, cultural storytelling and inclusive participation, creating a Canadian platform for some of the most compelling names in Pakistani and South Asian fashion alongside Canadian-based creative talent.
Presented by RMD Lifestyle Events Inc., led by CEO Hala Badar, and The World in Vogue, led by CEO Muhammad Sheraz, the event brought together designers, models, artists, entrepreneurs, media personalities and community leaders as part of one of Calgary’s vibrant multicultural celebrations of fashion.
The creative vision of the production was led by acclaimed designer and creative visionary Hassan Riaz, who served as Show Director and Creative Choreographer. Riaz shaped the runway’s visual identity, choreography and creative flow while also presenting his own work as a featured designer through Gogi by Hassan Riaz.
The event’s public relations and media outreach were led by Mujtaba Javaid of WhiteSpace, serving as the official publicist, helping extend the showcase’s media reach while communicating its wider themes of fashion, culture, creativity and inclusion.

Where Fashion Meets Cultural Identity
The runway may have been the centerpiece, but cultural identity was at the heart of the evening.
Acclaimed Pakistani actor and director Saife Hasan joined the event as Chief Guest, alongside prominent community figures, industry professionals, entrepreneurs and supporters.
Among the distinguished guests was Hon. Muhammad Yaseen, Associate Minister of Multiculturalism and MLA for Calgary-North, whose attendance underscored the role cultural initiatives can play in bringing Calgary’s diverse communities together.
The evening offered a glimpse of what can happen when fashion becomes more than an industry — when it becomes a means of cultural exchange, connection and representation.
For the organizers, the showcase was an opportunity to connect South Asian creative industries with Canada’s multicultural cultural landscape while opening new possibilities for designers, artists and entrepreneurs.
A Vision Built on Community
For Hala Badar, CEO of RMD Lifestyle Events Inc. and Co-Organizer, the response from Calgary was a powerful affirmation of the vision behind the event.
“Being in the industry of creating events has taught me that you have to dream bigger. Calgary showed up for this vision, and seeing a house full of people supporting fashion, culture and inclusion means so much to us. This is not the end — it is the beginning of something bigger, and we promise to continue creating opportunities and platforms for our community.”
For Badar, the objective goes beyond producing a successful event. Her vision is centered on creating spaces where creativity can become a catalyst for connection, entrepreneurship and opportunity.
For Co-Organizer Muhammad Sheraz, CEO of The World in Vogue, the story behind the showcase is deeply personal.
After 13 years in the fashion and media industry, Sheraz moved to Canada for his daughter, Abia, and began a new chapter of his life while continuing to carry his connection to Pakistani culture with him.
“I have been a part of the fashion and media industry for the last 13 years. A few years ago, I moved to Canada for my daughter, Abia. Starting over in a new country, as a single parent, was not easy. But I always carried my love for my culture with me. I wanted to bring the beauty of Pakistani culture, our fashion, our designers and our craftsmanship to the world.”
That philosophy has become central to The World in Vogue’s vision — using fashion as a vehicle through which culture can travel, connect and inspire.
Sheraz also emphasized his commitment to creating future opportunities for special children and inclusive communities, ensuring that inclusion remains embedded in the platform’s long-term vision.
Hassan Riaz: The Creative Force Behind the Show

Every major runway requires a creative language. In Calgary, that language was shaped by Hassan Riaz.
Taking on the dual responsibility of Show Director and Creative Choreographer, Riaz guided the production while also stepping onto the runway with his own collection.
The show opened with Riaz’s “DESTINE — The True Colours of Pakistan,” a collection inspired by Pakistan’s dramatic landscapes, changing seasons and rich visual heritage.
It was an opening designed to establish the emotional and visual character of the evening, presenting Pakistan not simply as a place of origin, but as a source of colour, craftsmanship, emotion and creative inspiration.
Riaz’s contribution continued throughout the production. As Show Director, he orchestrated the movement and presentation of the evening’s diverse lineup, connecting individual designers and collections into a unified visual narrative.
A Powerful Showcase of Pakistani and South Asian Fashion
The runway brought together established designers, emerging voices and contemporary fashion brands, including:
- Naushemian by Nauman Arfeen
- Emraan Rajput
- Gogi by Hassan Riaz
- Shamaeel Ansari
- Stitchcraft by Roopan Grewal
- Maria Farrukh
- Pehnawa by Sidra Ateeque
- Ramya Peri
- North Arabia Couture
- Nisa Style
- Yordi Bridal & Fashion
- Ross Henderson
The lineup reflected the diversity of Pakistani and South Asian fashion, moving between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary silhouettes.
Each presentation brought its own aesthetic language to the runway, while the collective showcase demonstrated the breadth of creative talent within the region’s fashion industry.
The collections received enthusiastic applause throughout the evening, reflecting a growing appetite for South Asian fashion and the potential for designers and creative entrepreneurs to reach audiences beyond traditional markets.
When Inclusion Walks the Runway

The most powerful statement of the evening, however, came from an unexpected place: inclusion.
In collaboration with Calgary’s Inclusive Social Club, founded by Aneela Mir, the organizers presented a special children’s walk featuring special children who were given the opportunity to experience the excitement and confidence of the runway.
Their participation placed inclusion directly at the heart of the fashion program.
Rather than treating accessibility and inclusion as a separate initiative, the organizers integrated the children’s walk into the main show — making the runway itself a statement that fashion and its opportunities should be accessible to everyone.
The segment also reflected Sheraz’s personal commitment to creating more platforms and meaningful opportunities for special children in future initiatives.
Celebrating the People Behind the Vision
The spotlight also turned toward the people whose work and support helped make the showcase possible.
Gurinder Brar, MLA for Calgary-North East, joined the certificate presentation recognizing individuals and contributors involved in bringing the event to life.
Brar said:
“As a representative of Calgary-North East, I am always looking for opportunities to support initiatives that benefit and bring together our communities. Events like this promote cultural exchange, encourage entrepreneurship and give talented individuals a platform to be seen. I believe Calgary thrives when we create more opportunities for our diverse communities to come together and celebrate what they have to offer.”
The recognition ceremony acknowledged the wider community behind the production — the creatives, organizers, partners, volunteers and supporters whose combined contributions transformed an idea into a live fashion experience.
From Runway to Rhythm
The final chapter of the evening moved from fashion to music.
The gala concluded with a live performance by Shallum Xavier, founding member of the celebrated musical band Fuzön.
His performance added a powerful musical dimension to an evening that had already crossed the boundaries of fashion, culture, community and storytelling.
It was a fitting conclusion to a celebration built around bringing people together.
The Story Continues Beyond the Runway

The August 28 gala was the centerpiece of the broader Canada Lifestyle Fashion Show & Exhibition 2026, but the story did not end when the runway lights went down.
The initiative continued on August 30 at the Courtyard by Marriott Calgary Airport, Stampede Ballroom, with the lifestyle exhibition extending the platform beyond the runway.
The exhibition created additional opportunities for fashion brands, entrepreneurs, businesses, creatives and community members to connect, expanding the initiative into a broader space for engagement and collaboration.
Together, the fashion show and exhibition represent a larger ambition: to create a continuing Canadian platform where South Asian fashion and cultural expression can meet Canada’s increasingly diverse creative landscape.
Looking Beyond Calgary
Calgary may have been the setting, but the ambitions behind the showcase extend much further.
For RMD Lifestyle Events Inc. and The World in Vogue, the event represents a foundation for what comes next.
A house-full audience, an accomplished designer lineup, strong community participation, government and community support, and a meaningful commitment to inclusion demonstrated the potential of a platform that brings fashion and cultural identity together.
With Hassan Riaz at the creative helm as Show Director and Mujtaba Javaid of WhiteSpace leading public relations as official publicist, the production brought together fashion, media and creative storytelling under one vision.
As the organizers look toward future editions and expanded initiatives across Canada, the message from Calgary is clear: there is an audience, an appetite and a growing community ready to see South Asian fashion not simply celebrated, but positioned confidently on the Canadian and international stage.
The Calgary showcase has created a foundation. The next step is to build on it — across cities, across communities and across borders.
The runway has only just begun.
