Ayushmann Khurrana on ‘Thamma’ Success: ‘A Dream Come True’

Actor celebrates crossing INR 100 crore milestone with the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe origin film

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is riding high on the success of his latest film, Thamma, which has officially crossed the INR 100 crore mark at the box office. The achievement not only cements the film’s popularity among audiences but also marks a major milestone in Ayushmann’s already impressive career.

The film, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rashmika Mandanna, and Paresh Rawal, is now poised to become the highest-grossing origin film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) — a franchise known for hits like Stree and Bhediya.

Speaking to Variety, Ayushmann Khurrana expressed his joy and gratitude for the audience’s overwhelming response.

“The public validation is the biggest validation for any artiste,” he said. “The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe has an amazing legacy of hits, and as an origin film, Thamma has registered the best opening of any MHCU’s first film.”

Ayushmann added that the film’s performance exceeded even his personal expectations.

“It is also going to become the highest-grossing origin film within MHCU, which again is a big feat. So, I’m very happy and I thank the audience for this love,” he shared.

A milestone moment for Ayushmann

Known for his versatility and unconventional film choices, Ayushmann Khurrana described Thamma’s success as a career-defining moment.

“I always wanted to do a big film that becomes a festival release and entertains the whole of India,” he said. “Thamma has made all my dreams come true as an entertainer.”

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma blends horror and humor in the signature Maddock style — delivering a fresh mix of thrills, social satire, and laugh-out-loud moments.

Industry analysts credit the film’s success to strong word-of-mouth, engaging storytelling, and Ayushmann’s growing appeal across genres.

With Thamma crossing the coveted INR 100 crore milestone, it continues to strengthen the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe’s position as one of Bollywood’s most consistent and commercially successful franchises.
