Amna Ilyas Embarks on Bold New Chapter, Balancing Fashion and Acting

Pakistani model-turned-actor Amna Ilyas is entering a transformative phase in her career, moving away from the constant demands of full-time modeling to focus on entrepreneurship and selective acting roles that reflect personal growth and creative depth.

In a feature for Dawn Icon titled “The Unforgettable Amna Ilyas,” Amna candidly discussed navigating difficult periods in her life and intentionally rewriting her narrative. Penned by fashion journalist Maliha Rehman, the interview presents an artist who prioritizes purpose over validation, embracing a more intentional approach to both career and life.

Amna’s reinvention is visually captured in the cover shoot, styled in pieces from her own clothing line and photographed by Hussain Piart, with beauty curated by Nabila Salon. More than a fashion statement, the shoot reflects independence and a fresh creative identity.

Central to this evolution is her brand, Shop at Amna Ilyas. Rather than following fleeting celebrity trends, the label represents a natural progression of her years working with Pakistan’s top designers. The collection emphasizes sharp tailoring, confident silhouettes, and bold colours, avoiding heavy embellishments. One of the earliest launches, a black voile co-ord set, reportedly sold out within hours, demonstrating strong market demand.

Amna’s fashion ambitions were showcased at the inaugural Laam Fashion Week in Lahore, where she unveiled her collection under tight deadlines. With guidance from industry veterans like Fahad Hussayn and Nomi Ansari, the milestone marked a significant moment for her entrepreneurial journey.

Parallel to her fashion pursuits, Amna is redefining her acting career. In the Geo TV drama Aik Aur Pakeezah, she portrays Barrister Saman, a courageous lawyer confronting cybercrime, a role imbued with social relevance. Previously, in Humraaz, she played SP Saamia, a character originally written as male but reshaped for her by director Farooq Rind.

Amna has become increasingly selective about her projects, emphasizing quality over quantity. Comparing artists to plants that bloom only in the right environment, she reflects on a journey that has shifted from proving herself to protecting her peace, choosing roles and ventures that align with her evolving vision.
