Three suspects have reportedly been detained in Kota, Rajasthan, in connection with the shooting at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, as investigators intensify efforts to establish who was behind the attack.
According to Indian media reports, the suspects were picked up from the Railway Colony area of Kota on Monday. However, reports differ on whether they have been formally arrested or remain in custody.
The shooting occurred near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18. Shroff reportedly escaped without gunshot injuries, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries during the incident.
The case has attracted widespread attention, particularly after reports emerged that the actor took control of his vehicle to help transport his injured driver for medical treatment.
Tiger Shroff Shooting Case: What Happened in Mumbai?
According to reports, the incident took place at around 7 pm as Shroff was returning to his car after a football session in Juhu.
Three unidentified men travelling on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire near Pushpa Narsee Park before fleeing the scene. Investigators suspect the attackers may have monitored the actor’s routine before carrying out the shooting.
According to ANI, the suspects allegedly knew that Shroff played football in Juhu on Sundays. They reportedly waited outside the ground for around 45 minutes before opening fire as he returned to his vehicle.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack, including CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and the movements of the suspects before and after the shooting.
Authorities have not yet publicly established the motive behind the incident.
Three Suspects Detained in Rajasthan
Local media reports said the three suspects were detained in Kota, Rajasthan, following an investigation involving multiple police teams.
The men were reportedly traced to the Railway Colony area. Earlier intelligence had suggested that the alleged attackers travelled towards Gujarat after fleeing Mumbai.
According to reports, the suspects initially escaped on a Pulsar motorcycle, travelled along SV Road, and abandoned the vehicle outside Andheri West railway station before boarding a train towards Borivali.
Mumbai Police registered a case against three unidentified men under charges that reportedly include attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and offences under the Arms Act.
Fifteen police teams were formed to trace the attackers, while the Crime Branch took over the investigation. Forensic teams also collected spent cartridges from the scene as investigators worked to reconstruct the sequence of events.
The identities of the detained suspects and the extent of their alleged involvement have yet to be fully established publicly.
Tiger Shroff Praised for Helping Injured Driver
Tiger Shroff has received praise on social media following reports that he drove his injured driver to seek medical assistance after the shooting.
According to reports, the actor moved into the driver’s seat and drove towards Santacruz Police Station. Police subsequently escorted the vehicle to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai’s Vile Parle area.
A video circulating online reportedly shows Shroff switching seats and taking control of the car following the incident. The footage prompted users to commend the actor for reportedly prioritising his driver’s safety during the emergency.
The actor escaped without gunshot injuries. However, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Shroff’s hands had been affected by gunpowder and flying glass.
The injured driver was identified in reports as Firdous Ibrahim, also spelt Firdaus in some accounts. He reportedly sustained a bullet wound to his left arm or wrist and was described as being in stable condition.
An autorickshaw driver identified as Chauhan was also reportedly injured. Both men received treatment at Nanavati Hospital.
Police Investigate Possible Motive Behind the Shooting
Investigators are examining whether the shooting was planned in advance and whether the attackers had information about Shroff’s regular movements.
The reported waiting period outside the football ground has raised questions about possible surveillance before the incident. However, the circumstances and extent of any planning remain subject to the police investigation.
Mumbai Police are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those responsible and establish the roles of the detained suspects.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly contacted Shroff after the incident and assured him that authorities were working to apprehend the accused. Fadnavis also sought a detailed report from Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have yet to confirm all the details surrounding the attack.
Alleged Bishnoi Gang Claim Remains Unverified
A social media post purportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the shooting and named individuals allegedly associated with the attack.
An audio recording circulated online also reportedly included threats against people in the film industry who work with Salman Khan, with whom the gang has a longstanding reported dispute.
However, police have not verified the authenticity of the social media post or the audio recording. Investigators have also not officially established a motive or confirmed a connection between the shooting and the alleged gang.
The distinction is important because online claims of responsibility do not, by themselves, establish who carried out an attack or who directed it.
The reported claims have nevertheless intensified public discussion about the safety of Bollywood celebrities and concerns over alleged extortion networks targeting prominent figures.
Bollywood Industry Calls for Stronger Celebrity Security
The shooting has renewed concerns across India’s film industry about the protection of actors, filmmakers, and their families.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) condemned the incident and called for authorities to take action against those responsible. Its president, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, warned that attacks on film personalities were creating concerns about the industry’s safety.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also condemned the shooting and called for a thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation.
The incident has drawn comparisons with previous security cases involving Bollywood personalities, including the April 2024 shooting outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence and reported gunfire at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home.
However, investigators have not confirmed that the Tiger Shroff shooting is connected to those incidents.
Investigation Continues as Security Concerns Grow
The detention of three suspects in Rajasthan marks a significant development in the investigation into the shooting involving Tiger Shroff’s vehicle. Police are continuing to examine forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and other information to determine how the attack was planned and carried out.
Authorities have yet to publicly confirm the suspects’ identities, establish a definitive motive, or verify the alleged gang-related claims circulating online.
Meanwhile, reports that Shroff drove his injured driver to seek medical treatment have become a major talking point on social media.
As the investigation progresses, the focus remains on identifying those responsible, establishing the facts surrounding the incident, and determining whether others were involved in planning the attack.
