Pakistani actress Sajal Aly has used her platform to highlight the struggles faced by delivery riders and drivers as fuel prices in Pakistan continue to rise sharply. On Instagram, she urged fans to show empathy and tip generously, saying, “The people delivering our food and driving us around spend their entire day on the road. With petrol prices rising, it’s getting even harder for them. If you can, please tip them generously. It’s the least we can do.”
Sajal’s message quickly resonated with followers, who applauded her for advocating fair treatment for frontline workers who rely heavily on daily earnings and tips. Her post serves as a reminder to recognize the challenges faced by individuals who keep daily life running smoothly for others.
The call for support comes amid a nationwide fuel price surge. Petrol has been raised to 458 PKR per liter and diesel to 570 PKR per liter, contrary to earlier assurances from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that prices would remain stable. The hike has intensified financial pressure on the middle class, whose purchasing power is shrinking amid the rising cost of living.

Several Pakistani celebrities have also voiced their frustration over the increase. Actor Omair Rana joked that the government could have raised fuel prices by 1,000 PKR per liter but “only” increased them by 100. Veteran actor Khaled Anam lamented that the phrase “fill karao” might disappear from everyday use, while actress Madiha Rizvi noted that although the public may not protest, long petrol queues are inevitable. Other stars, including Mishi Khan and Abu Aleeha, also publicly criticized the sudden hike.
Sajal Aly’s post underscores the importance of empathy and social responsibility, reminding the public to acknowledge the extra hardships endured by workers who serve society daily, especially during times of economic strain.
